Why Was Christy Turlington At The Apple Event?

by Marisa Dalpiaz

As if we need more reasons to be jealous of Christy Turlington Burns, here's another: she was the first person to have an early model of the highly anticipated Apple Watch. Yes, you read that correctly. And what's more, supermodel, mother of two, and general goddess of the universe Christy Turlington joined Tim Cook on stage at Apple's Inc.'s "Spring Forward" event in San Francisco to show off her latest accessory this morning for millions of envious Apple enthusiasts.

Christy is using the Apple Watch to do much more than make an enviable It Girl style statement. She is actually using the Apple Watch to train for the Virgin Money London Marathon. It's true! You can follow her journey each week leading up to the marathon and see the supermodel and her super cute watch in action. The Apple Watch consists of fitness features that include tracking calories burned, minutes of brisk activity, how long you've been standing, and a heart rate censor that detects when you are working out. You can also set up customizable goals to assist in monitoring fitness levels.

Practical and pretty? Now that's a lovely combination. The Apple Watch will come in three versions: Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition. The smart accessory ranges in price from $349 to $10,000. The most expensive of which will be the Apple Watch Edition which is encased in 18-karat gold (at least that's what we heard from Mashable). Are you dying in a Rachel Zoe kind of fashion yet? Don't worry! These babies will be available for preorder April 10, and will ship April 24 in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom, and (wait for it) the United States according to Cult of Mac.

Even if the only marathon you enjoy is of the Netflix variety, you can still take serious Monday outfit inspo from Christy Turlington Burns. She looks beautiful (as expected) and the Apple Watch really complements her look. If Christy Turlington Burns uses it, its definitely chic in our book!
