This 'Frozen Fever' Song Is Full Of Sisterly Love

by Kadeen Griffiths

If you, for some bizarre reason, decided not to watch Frozen when it came out in 2013, then the new song that has been released from Frozen Fever will fill you in on the plot pretty quickly. Just as Frozen tells the tale of two sisters who love each other (a lot), so too does Frozen Fever's "Making Today a Perfect Day" repeat that story for anyone who didn't quite get it the first time. The song, which is currently available for download on iTunes, also introduces the entire plot of the short: Anna is having a birthday that Elsa is determined to make perfect for her, but Elsa has a cold that might ruin the perfect day she has planned. (Spoiler alert: when Elsa sneezes, she creates mini-snowmen called snowgies that can be seen on the Frozen Fever promo poster. How cute is that?)

The song, which features Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and some other voices of beloved characters, follows Elsa as she tries to describe to Anna all of the wondrous things she has worked to plan for her on her birthday. However, Elsa can't get through the song without sneezing — something that concerns Anna, who just wants her to lie down and take care of herself first. You know a cold is serious when it's preventing a Disney princess (ahem, Queen) from singing.

But just in case you won't take my word for it, here are seven lyrics from "Making Today a Perfect Day" that will give you all of the Frozen feels.

1. "You’ve never had a real birthday before — Except, of course, the ones just spent outside my locked door."

One of my only points of contention with Frozen was the movie glossed over too much of the pain that Anna experienced having her best friend and older sister lock a door in her face for years — even to the point of having to attend her parents' funeral by herself. Even though it wasn't Elsa's fault, I'm glad the Frozen Fever short has Elsa acknowledge that as one of her deepest regrets.

2. "I don’t get colds. Besides... A cold never bothered me anyway."

I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE, SNOW QUEEN.

3. "I even got Kristoff and Sven to take a shower."

This was, to me, probably the hardest part of the preparations for Elsa. I mean, even the rock trolls think that he smells.

4. "For everything you are to me and all you’ve been through, I’m making today a perfect day for you."

BRB, sobbing.

5. "Elsa, you gotta go lie down." / "No way, we have to paint the town!" / "But you need medical attention!"

The fact that Anna spends the entirety of a song about her birthday worrying about Elsa's health and happiness is so true to their characters that I want to cry all over again.

6. "Follow the string to the end. You are my very best friend."

I assume that the string leads to some kind of birthday surprise for Anna, but throwing that line about being best friends in there? That's okay, Disney. I didn't need my feels today; you can have them.

7. "Happy happy happy, merry merry merry, hap... birth... hap... birthday!" / "Woah! Elsa, look at you. You’ve got a fever. You’re burning up!"

Elsa is sick to the point that she can even sing the lyrics to the song, and yet still she keeps going because she wants to ensure that everything is going off without a hitch for Anna's birthday. Now that's true love.

8. "Best birthday present ever."

The thing that Anna considers to be the best birthday present ever is both surprising and yet so adorable that you won't be able to help smiling. To find out what it is, download the song off iTunes immediately. Who knows? It might even become the new "Let It Go."
