Bring On The Chuck Norris-Benjamin Netanyahu Jokes

by Melissah Yang

Chuck Norris doesn't breathe — he holds air hostage. Chuck Norris played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun — and won. The mythology around the American martial artist and actor is what Benjamin Netanyahu seems to think he needs in order to pull ahead of challenger Isaac Herzog in Israel's upcoming election. With less than 24 hours to go until Tuesday's polls open, Bibi has pulled the ultimate card and released a video ad where Chuck Norris endorses Netanyahu as prime minister.

Chuck Norris — one of the few humans on earth who truly deserves to be referred to by his first and last name — sits in front of a simple white background with Hebrew writing. He delivers a calm and deliberately scripted speech and implores Israelis to vote for Netanyahu.

I’m Chuck Norris, and I would like to say hello to all my friends in Israel. I watched Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech before Congress and saw a man who loves his country with all his heart and soul. I also saw a strong leader, which is absolutely crucial for the safety of the Israeli people. I’ve done three movies in Israel — Delta Force being my favorite — and I’ve formed many friendships while there. You have an incredible country, and we want to keep it that way. That’s why it’s so important to keep a leader who has the courage and vision to stand up against the evil forces that are threatening not only Israel, but the United States. So I ask you to vote for Prime Minister Netanyahu on Election Day. Thank you for listening to me.

Not only has Chuck Norris legitimized his role as an Israeli expert by declaring his Iranian hostage film The Delta Force (1986) as his favorite movie shot in Israel, the American actor has reminded us again why he still makes headlines. Amazingly enough, this isn't the first time Chuck Norris has thrown his cowboy hat into the Israeli election ring — he lent his voice to an endorsement ad for Netanyahu during the 2013 elections.

Chuck Norris wasn't the only American to speak up either. The always vocal Donald Trump provided his own Netanyahu ad that very same election.

Can the Texas Ranger help Netanyahu win? The latest polls say Herzog and his Labor Party have a slight lead on Netanyahu and his Likud party, but Israel's election is still too close to call. Don't ever doubt the power of Chuck Norris though. After all, Chuck Norris doesn't tell lies — he changes facts.
