Nicki Minaj Just Made History

by Alex Kritselis

Guess who just made history? On Tuesday, Nicki Minaj broke a major record, becoming the first woman to score four simultaneous top 10 hits on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart — an impressive feat that only two of her peers have ever achieved. According to Billboard, Minaj's "Truffle Butter" rose to No. 1 this week (her sixth chart-topper), while her Rae Sremmurd collaboration, "Throw Sum Mo," comes in at No. 3, "Only" at No. 9, and "Feeling Myself" at No. 10.

As Billboard reports, Minaj is also the first woman to notch 3 simultaneous top 10 hits as a lead artist on the chart, which is, you know, pretty badass, too. The 32-year-old rapper just keeps on winning.

Minaj has set and or broken a number of records since she first burst onto the scene in 2010. Who could forget when she broke Miley Cyrus' VEVO record for most views in 24 hours with her eye-popping "Anaconda" music video? Or when One Direction fans stayed up all night desperately trying to break the record again two months later, only to end up falling short? (The answer, of course, is very few people — you don't easily forget about an artist like Minaj.)

But wait, there's more: she's landed more songs on the Billboard Hot 100 than the legendary Michael Jackson AND she's the first woman to appear on Forbes ' Hip-Hip Cash Kings list, an annual ranking of the highest-earning rappers in the United States. Put simply, Minaj is kind of a big deal. Her talent is undeniable, and frankly, she's changing the game.

So, here's to Nicki Minaj: may she have many, many more years of record-breaking success. Something tells me she's just getting started.
