9 Style Tips That Are Instant Mood-Boosters

by Olivia Muenter

We all have those days that just feel like everything that could go wrong has officially gone wrong, but there are mood-boosting style tips that can instantly turn that around. You were late for work or you slept through spinning or you learned that spinning is the worst — there are a lot of horrible possibilities out there, guys. Sometimes we just have those days where the only thing that feels right is collapsing on the couch in a pile of Chipotle tortilla chips and self-pity. And while, yes, sometimes that option is indeed the best one, often times what we all ready need is to get our butts up and do something that we know is going to make us feel better in the end, even if it isn't the easiest option. You can bring the Chipotle chips with you.

One of the greatest things about fashion is that it's a great, quick way to give yourself a creative boost of confidence when you really need it. Having a bad day? A great shade of lipstick may perk you up. Feeling overwhelmed? Slip into your most luxe pair of pajamas and make yourself some tea. Stress overtaking your ability to think straight? Put on you most twirl-y dress and dance around your apartment for no reason. It's fashion, after all, and it can be whatever you want it to be. Here are 9 quick fashion tips to instantly help make you feel great on a not-so-great day.

1. Put On Some Bright Lipstick

The best way to instantly put some pep in your step is to find your favorite shade of lipstick and go to town. Lipstick brightens up your entire face, and is a fun way to show the world that you're confident, happy, and have great taste in makeup. Red lipstick is my go-to if I'm feeling down or tired, and it does the trick every time.

2. Spritz Your Favorite Perfume

Something about putting perfume on always cheers me up a little bit. Certain scents I have always remind me of different times of my life (like the perfume I wore all through the year I lived in Europe) and something about that nostalgia and the added benefit of smelling good is an instant mood booster.

Throw on your nicest dress for no reason or your old prom dresses if you're really feeling like something fun. There doesn't need to be an excuse to get all dressed up and feel like you're most fab, sassy self.

4. Put On Your Coziest, Fanciest Pajamas

If you're in a bad mood, going to town on your closet is the perfect way to forget about anything stressful.

7. Plan Some New Outfits

Take your favorite piece in your closet and try to create some new fun outfits around it. You'll have something new and fun to look forward to wearing to work the next day or on a date, and let's be honest, it's a lot easier to get excited for a meeting if you have a cute outfit to be excited about.

8. Paint Your Nails

How to feel instantly more put together, step one: Paint nails.

9. Simply Put: Pamper Yourself

If one option doesn't do it for you, then simply go for everything. If you have the time, really just treat yourself in terms of your outfit and beauty. Take a bath. Paint your nails. Eat those Chipotle chips. Clean your closet. Plan a fun new outfit. The whole shebang. Because, at the end of the day, if you're not happy, then everything else is going to be off. So do whatever it takes to make yourself happy, friends. It's worth it.
