Havaianas New Line Will Get You Ready for Summer

by Jamie Cuccinelli

While flip flops may not be considered the chicest of footwear, they just might be the most fun and comfortable. No one makes 'em better than Havaianas. The brand is introducing a line aimed at teenagers, which is only fitting since the shoes are pretty much synonymous with the sunny beach days and warm boardwalk nights that youths seem to love. I bought a pair when I was maybe 14 and those babies lasted me through countless vacations and questionable summer camp shower stalls, until I was a 21 and a Holi festival left them unrecognizable. Known for their durability and rainbow of colors, Havaianas are a flip-flop classic.

Havaianas is releasing a brand new style of flip-flop for spring/summer 2015 that promises to be a fave among teens frolicking in the summer sun (do kids frolic nowadays?). According to the brand, the flip-flops will feature a slimmer, flatter strap and are aptly being dubbed "The Flat" collection. Priced from $18 to $22, the new sandals are more high-school allowance friendly than their $30 counterpart and come in a range of young, fresh colors and patterns, like ombré, animal prints, and metallic straps. “We see it as the new hip sister to our traditional Slim style,” Havaiana's senior merchandise manager Tara Wessells explained to WWD. Well, your hip little sister better watch out that you don't end up stealing them from her closet.
