Drake's Toronto Raptors Collab Is Pretty Perfect
This week, two things that I'm hopelessly in love with have combined to make me the happiest woman alive. No, I'm not talking about pizza tacos — I'm talking about Drake's Raptors collaboration with Mitchell & Ness, which makes for luxurious-looking athleisure-wear that's as comfy as it is fashionable. Toronto's most famous son and The Toronto Raptors' Global Ambassador has put his very own stamp on the basketball team's iconic original logo in a collaboration with the throwback sportswear company. Yes, that's the throwback logo with the dinosaur and not the controversial new logo design that the team launched in December (one originally ascribed to the rapper and called "Drake-inspired"). Seriously, here in Canada that whole Twitter exchange was a big deal and people were legitimately taking sides.
This collection, however, should be uncontroversial: It's the perfect blend of minimalist streetwear that Drake's brand OVO has come to be known for. The OVO x Toronto Raptors is a collection touched by the clothing company's signature gold and owl logo, playing with both design elements that pay homage to the logo and the jerseys as well as gilded versions of the classic styles. The design is nothing groundbreaking, but the collection of tees, sweatshirts, and snapbacks is definitely covetable — and symbolic of the cultural significance of Drake and the Raptors. I'm second in my NCAA basketball pool right now and if I win, you know I'm going to put down a few dollars on one of those snapbacks.
So here are two ways to style pieces from this collection that are perfect for the athleisure look of spring:
