Joni Mitchell Fans React To Icon's Hospitalization

Sweet bird, Joni, please be okay. Legendary folk singer and icon Joni Mitchell was hospitalized for an unknown condition on Tuesday, her official website and Twitter account confirmed. Within hours of the news, which broke on TMZ, Joni Mitchell fans reacted on Twitter with wishes of love and lyrics penned by the Canadian singer-songwriter. Her website read:

Joni has been hospitalized. We are awaiting official word on her condition and will post it here as soon as we know.

Update: Mitchell's official website says she is in intensive care undergoing tests, but the singer is "awake and in good spirits."

Sources tell TMZ that Mitchell was rushed to the hospital after a 911 call was placed from her home Tuesday afternoon for an unconscious female. The report says paramedics went to Mitchell's Los Angeles home around 2:30 p.m. local time. The woman was reportedly alert as the ambulance took her to the hospital. TMZ says Mitchell was in an intensive care unit as of Tuesday night.

Fans of the woman synonymous with the Woodstock era poured out their love on Twitter, with some quoting lyrics from a few of Mitchell's biggest songs such as "Help Me," "River," and "Big Yellow Taxi." Support for the 71-year-old also came from celebrities Boy George, Leann Rimes, and St. Vincent, who wished a speedy recovery to the beloved Grammy Award-winning artist.
