John Lennon's First Wife Dies At 75

Sad news for the Lennon family. Beatles singer John Lennon's first wife Cynthia Lennon died at 75 on April 1, 2015 after battling cancer, her rep and family announced on Wednesday. Cynthia and John's only son, Julian Lennon, was at her bedside at her home in Mallorca, Spain and the family asks for respect and privacy at this difficult time.

Cynthia first met John at 18 years old and in the midst of him making it big with The Beatles. In 1962, Cynthia became pregnant with Julian (who was born in 1963), their only child, and they soon married. Their marriage was known for not having a solid foundation, including Cynthia claiming John hit her on one occasion.

Cynthia once revealed, "He was a very jealous young man at the time, and he had a lot of pain inside. He wanted to trust me and he thought by seeing me dancing with a friend of his that I was being disloyal or messing around. So he smacked me, but that was the only time."

In 1968, the two divorced and then John married Yoko Ono in 1969. As the world knows, John was killed in 1980 after being shot. Soon after his death, Cynthia wrote and published two books about their life, including A Twist of Lennon in 1980 and John in 2005.

Julian loved his mother deeply and as a tribute to the woman he admired, he posted a video filled with photos showcasing Cynthia's life. The black and white photos are quite touching, plus Julian's song "Beautiful" plays in the background. It's a lovely and touching tribute to his mother.
