Wait, Is There Hope For Emma & Andrew?

by Jaclyn Anglis

The rumors have been flying around for some time now about trouble in paradise for Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. After all, the two have quite different and hectic schedules, and he was absent from both the Golden Globes and the Oscars, even though Stone was nominated. And on Wednesday, the sad — but not entirely heart wrenching — news was confirmed by People. Reportedly, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are on a break.

The pair, who have been together for three years, have been supposedly struggling with being in a long-distance relationship. Garfield has been on location in Taiwan shooting a new film called Silence, while Stone has been hanging out in Los Angeles after finishing up production on her new film Aloha. So distance, along with their crazy work loads, were apparently the main factors in the two deciding a break was the best decision at this time. A source told People, "They're both a slave to their schedules. This time last year they were privately discussing marriage."

But wait, is all hope completely lost for Garfield and Stone? According to the source, it is too soon to tell if the relationship is over for good. The source said, "It's one of those situations where only Andrew and Emma quite know if they'll pick up where they left off or they've separated."

So there is a chance for a reconciliation! That is good news to hear, especially if their break really is based on schedule conflicts as opposed to deeper or more personal disagreements. That being said, fans probably should not hold their breath waiting for the two to get back together. After all, seeing as the last time the two were spotted together was back in January, it's worth keeping in mind that they probably did not make the decision to take a break on a whim. It likely took a lot of consideration before this happened, and it would probably just as much consideration for them to get back together. After all, relationships are a constant work in progress, and it can sometimes be difficult to hit the reset button just because someone is back in town after a long time away.

It is good to keep in mind what the source said — that only Stone and Garfield truly know whether they will end up together again in the future. If they do, great. If not, well, we'll always have Spider Man.
