John Boehner Didn't Like Being Asked About Hillary
It's no secret that Speaker of the House John Boehner is not Hillary Clinton's biggest fan. It's also a pretty widely known fact that Boehner can get sassy once in a while. When you put those two circumstance together, America is likely in for a very entertaining year and a half leading up to the 2016 presidential election. At a GOP leadership press conference on Tuesday, Boehner gave the snarkiest smirk when asked about Hillary Clinton, prompting us to wonder what other faces the man has reserved for the presumed Democratic candidate.
On Tuesday, after their weekly House GOP Conference meeting, members of the House Republican leadership held a press conference to brief reporters on their party's legislative agenda. Although the majority of the issues the members discussed and were subsequently asked about in the conference related to taxes — which makes sense given the timing of the conference — such as preventing the IRS from targeting conservative groups, reducing the tax burden of the American middle class, and reforming the broken tax code, one reporter threw Boehner a curveball. As the speaker wrapped up the conference and started to walk off stage, someone asked, "Any thoughts on Hillary Clinton?"
Instead of answering verbally, however, Boehner did what he does best — convey an entire thesis in one minute, nearly imperceptible facial expression.
You see, what makes Boehner so unique, enigmatic, and truly anomalous is his wide range of limited emotions, if that makes sense. His expressions fall on a spectrum that goes from completely emotionless to reservedly sinister (like someone calmly whispering in your ear, "I will strangle you in your sleep"). Boehner has 50 shades of shade, if you will. And his nonverbal answer to the Hillary question above falls somewhere in the middle, the snark territory.
If an open-ended, nonchalant question like "What are your thoughts on Hillary" elicited such a snarky smile, we can only imagine what other Boehner expressions will come out for more specific questions. Here are 10 faces Boehner might show when asked about Hillary.
"Hey, Speaker Boehner, what do you think of Hillary's secret emails?"
"Speaker Boehner, do you think Hillary is a shoo-in?"
"How would you feel if Hillary won?"
"What are your personal interactions like with Hillary?"
"What did you think of her tenure as Secretary of State?"
"What about those 'unanswered questions' about Benghazi?"
"How did it make you feel to get this text?"
"Do you have any positive comments on Hillary?"
"What would you do if Hillary became the next U.S. president?"
"Mr. Boehner, do you like Hillary Clinton?"
