The Best Earth Day Sales To Shop

While volunteering your time on Earth Day is the best way to really make a global impact, you can also help to save our planet by switching up the way you shop on April 22. There are a number of major retailers who plan to do their part for the environment by offering creative Earth Day sales and specials that promote sustainability in one way or another, whether it's by rewarding customers for recycling their old products or by offering sales on environmentally-friendly goods.

In the past, many of your favorite stores have come up with some truly unique — and impactful — initiatives to help make the world of retail a bit less wasteful. Target gave out free reusable shopping bags to all of its customers on Earth Day 2013 in hopes that they would continue to use them throughout the year, and Anthropologie creates art installations in its store windows every year to help educate shoppers about the most detrimental environmental issues.

If you want to plan your Earth Day shopping trips around which places are offering sales or other events, I've compiled a list of all of the most environmentally conscious retailers both online and at the mall. Re-stock your makeup drawer, improve your wardrobe and even fill your refrigerator this Earth Day by taking advantage of these sales that are good for both your wallet and the environment.

1. Kiehl's

Stop into any Kiehl's store on Earth Day — or shop online — and get a free Lip Balm #1 when you spend $65 or more. Use the code "EARTHDAY" any time before April 27.

2. L'Occitane

In honor of Earth Day, purchase L'Occitane's popular Almond Shower Oil (500ml size) and a double-sized refill pouch for just $62 — that's usually an $87.50 value! Expires April 26.

3. Whole Foods

The beloved health food retailer always celebrates Earth Day, and its numerous sales and events vary depending on store. Check the Whole Foods blog for a schedule of events at your local store.

4. S.W. Basics

For all of Earth Month, Brooklyn-based skincare company S.W. Basics will donate 5 percent of all sales to support Mission Blue and their ocean conservation efforts. The company will also offer 20 percent off site-wide on Earth Day with the code "EARTHDAY20."

5. Matt & Nat

The cult favorite vegan fashion line is always centered around sustainability, but they aim to make things even more eco-friendly this Earth Day. For every purchase on April 22, Matt & Nat will donate $5 to The Bee Cause, an initiative that aims to save bees by eliminating toxic pesticides.

6. One Love Organics
