Nina Dobrev Has Filmed Her Final 'TVD' Scene

It's the end of an era, at least for two of the actors behind the mind-numbingly popular CW show The Vampire Diaries. On Wednesday, Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino filmed their final The Vampire Diaries scene, a moment they decided to share with the fans via an Instagram video Dobrev posted to her account. I'm sure plenty of people still aren't over the fact that Dobrev will be leaving The Vampire Diaries — especially considering, uh, she's the main character on the show — but, while we still have several episodes to get through before her departure feels truly real and final, it's officially a wrap for Dobrev and Trevino. This Instagram video had the potential to reduce us all to teary-eyed children too afraid to let go, but — actually, there's a good chance this video might still do that, despite the actors' intentions.

It opens on Dobrev and Trevino being asked about their final day on the set, but it's not until the two open their mouths that the laughter begins. It was incredibly sweet of them to try and say goodbye to their fans in a way that would result in more laughter than tears, in a way they could look back upon with a smile rather than with a tear in their eyes. However, they are not treating their time on the show trivially. The video comes with the heartwarming caption:

We were just kids when we started the show, and we still are, 6 years later.

Honestly, there is no perfect way for Dobrev and Trevino to say goodbye to their TVD Family because, for many fans, the best way to say goodbye is to only leave when the show is finally ending. You can wish Dobrev well in her future endeavors without for a second wanting her to leave or to force you to say goodbye to Elena Gilbert. However, as far as goodbyes go, this was the perfect way to handle it. My heart might be heavy, but there's a smile on my face that will probably only fade when we actually get to see what horrors might befall Elena in her last episodes on The Vampire Diaries.
