Disney Princesses In IRL Makeup Is Everything

by Arielle Dachille

This is a fact that all Milennials know to be true: Disney princesses basically exist in alternate universe where all makeup is impervious to the laws of physics. Lucky for us, BuzzFeed has given us a series of photos of Disney Princesses wearing realistic makeup. The series of illustrations is hilarious, insightful, and begging to be shared with all your friends.

You've probably seen the gloriousness of Disney Princesses with realistic hair. Now, BuzzFeed's Loryn Brantz has given us some magnificent renderings of Ariel, Aurora, Mulan, Belle, Jasmine, and Tiana dealing with a few of the makeup snafus that you encounter on the regs. They're just like us!

You get to see Sleeping Beauty Aurora awake from her coma with the didn't-wash-my-face-before-bed raccoon eyes that many of us party girls/ lazy people know well. Also, drool. Ariel's mascara is appropriately all over the place when she emerges from the ocean to mount that iconic sea rock (you know the one). Mulan and Jasmine both feel the pain of the liquid eyeliner smudging struggle, and Belle's pink lipstick gets all over the Beast's face after their passionate kiss. Princess Tiana's wedding day makeup, however, is perfect. 'Cause as Brantz identifies, wedding day makeup is generally on-point. Here are just a few of the pics.

Disney Aurora looked like she had an MUA doing touch-ups throughout her slumber. No way she actually woke up like this.

But as Brantz shows, Aurora probably would've woken up like this.

Remember when Mulan wiped off her matchmaker makeup with her sleeve, like, without a trace of anything?

Just being honest, it probably would've looked more something like this.

Ariel sports some quick-drying hair and impeccable eye makeup despite being a sea creature in The Little Mermaid. Maybe her lids are tattooed?

But as Brantz says — "Even Ariel's 'waterproof' mascara would have been no match for a lifetime underwater."

No doubt, these animated chanteuses will always hold a special place in many of our hearts. However, it's always nice to step back and think critically about the messages they send with regard to beauty standards and otherwise. Brantz' illustrations humorously underscore the unattainable perfection that Disney Princesses embody. Head on over to BuzzFeed to check out the rest!
