Cecily Strong's "Nerd Prom" Outfit Game Is Strong
If President Obama asked us to host a dinner, we would probably have a nervous breakdown trying to figure out what to wear. It's good to see that didn't happen to this year's emcee — White House Correspondents' Dinner host Cecily Strong wore an ornate, deep purple and black J. Mendel gown this evening, and she looks phenomenal.
With violet florals against a black, strapless slip, Strong's J. Mendel halter gown is the perfect mix of classic and fashion-forward. Her hair is pinned half back, princess-style, with her locks curled tightly. She went with a sexy smoky eye, strong brows, and pink lips. Her accessories were simple — dangling from her ears are short intertwining helix earrings while her arm candy was kept to a minimum with a single, black bracelet.
Strong is the fourth female comedian to host the White House Correspondents' Dinner and the youngest out of the four. And while it's a huge honor and accomplishment, Strong is feeling pretty nervous. Cecily Strong may seem super confident and hilarious on Saturday Night Live, but yesterday, she told People that she actually has the jitters for this year's "Nerd Prom." Strong said, “I keep going between ‘I’m so excited’ and then ‘I’m so nervous’ and then going back to being so honored and humble. I just don’t even know where I stand this second." Nerves aside, Strong looks beautiful and confident in tonight's killer ensemble! Hopefully that'll give her a nice little courage boost.
I’m pretty sure everyone is relying on Strong to poke a little comedic fun here and there at President Obama. But Mr. President is not going to be hard to make LOL, according to Strong. “Obama’s really, really funny,” she told Newsweek. We're sure Strong will have absolutely no problem making him and the entire audience chuckle.
