Kate Nailed Mixed Prints

by Sienna Fantozzi

Mixing prints is apparently in right now, and Kate Upton attended the Vogue festival with possibly one of the best combinations I've seen so far. And, ironically, it's also the most chic she's ever looked. Clashing looks all kinds of right on her.

The 22-year-old arrived at the fourth annual Vogue Festival at London's Royal Geographical Society on Sunday, wearing separates with mixed prints as well as colors. The model wore a high waisted, black and white checkered pencil skirt tucked into a black and yellow, floral patterned blouse. It was definitely an eye full, but it just looked so right. Upton topped her ensemble with a long, light gray coat with black buttons, and completed the look with black, lace heels and wayfarer sunglasses. The new face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics wore her blonde hair in loose waves, keeping the styling looking effortless and undone.

These particular mixed prints worked so well because a skirt like this could easily venture into preppy territory, but pairing it with a clashing color and pattern gave it a bit of an edge, while the classic silhouettes kept the overall look sophisticated and elegant. She looked chic, but still young, fun, and age appropriate.
