What Could 1D's Surprise Be?

by Kaitlin Reilly

One Direction fans have had a rough few weeks since the band's fifth member Zayn Malik announced he was leaving One Direction to pursue a more "normal" life as a 22 year old. Losing Malik was tough, but as they say, the show must go on — One Direction will continue to perform as a foursome, and are already planning something big for one of their first public talk show appearances sans Malik. One Direction will appear on The Late Late Show With James Corden and according to their announcement, One Direction's time on The Late Late Show will also bring a major surprise.

"We're all so excited to be appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden. James is one of our best mates, and we're so proud of the massive success his show is having in America," said One Direction member Liam Payne. "We are currently working on a few surprises with James and his team that we hope our fans will enjoy."

Obviously, that begs the question: what are these so-called surprises that One Direction is bringing onto The Late Late Show? I have a few ideas of what this boy band could have up their collective sleeve — and a few that are pure wishful thinking.

Probable, If Not Super Exciting: Performing An Old Hit

I miss "What Makes You Beautiful" as much as the next gal, but when it comes to surprises, this one is pretty meh.

Likely And Awesome: An Epic Prank

Corden is a big fan of pranks, and the One Directioners are pretty goofy themselves. Perhaps they'll prank unsuspecting audience members — or even Corden himself.

Unlikely But How Cool Would That Be Right?!: Peforming "Girl, You Don't Need Makeup"

Let's be real: this was clearly a One Direction parody. It would be hilarious for the band to turn the ironic number on its head by actually performing it live.

Completely Impossible But It's Making Me Hyperventilate Just Thinking About It: A Zayn Malik Reunion

The ultimate fantasy of a One Direction fan? That the whole "Zayn Malik leaving" fiasco was nothing more than an epic prank to be revealed on the Late Late Show. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
