"The Binks Awakens" Is Jar Jar's Best Work

by Kristie Rohwedder

When you first watched the teaser trailers for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, how many times did you mumble under your breath, "Could use more Jar Jar Binks"? If your answer is "more than zero," you are in luck! Using footage from the prequels, motion graphics artist and lighting technician Michael Murdock created "Star Wars: The Binks Awakens", a Binksy (not to be confused with the artist Banksy) Force Awakens parody trailer.

Not only is the parody well-executed (IT LOOKS SO REAL), but it is delightful. Every time Jar Jar pops up, I do not cringe. I do not hide. I laugh out loud. The video may or may not make me nostalgic for the days when the Gungan squawked, flailed around, and chewed scenery in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. It took 16 years, but I may or may not have finally come around on Jar Jar Binks. When The Force Awakens hits theaters this December, I'll be sure to have "The Binks Awakens" bookmarked. Ya know, just in case I miss seeing him on the big screen.

Do I have a favorite moment from the parody trailer? Do I ever. Don't mind me as I send this GIF to anyone who texts me this weekend:

I can't stop looking at it.
