Is This Why Beyonce Was Late To the Met Gala?

by May Sofi

After getting over the initial awe of Beyoncé's barely-there Met Gala dress, I couldn't take my eyes off that hair. Turns out, however, the structured ponytail wasn't as meticulously planned out as it appeared to be — Beyoncé changed her hairstyle for the Met Gala at the last minute in the elevator on the way to the ball, according to her longtime hairstylist Neal Farinah. In the words of Bey, "of course sometimes shit go down when it's a billion dollars on an elevator." Thankfully, this year's incident was much less worrisome, but seriously what's the deal with her and elevators?

Hairstylist Neal revealed to Us Weekly that Beyoncé originally had her hair in an "Asian-inspired chignon," but then made a game-time decision to swap it out for a high pony. "Then we were in the elevator on the way down, and she looks at me and says, 'Neal, I want to change my hair, will you change my hair?' And I said, 'Honey, there could be cameras in the elevator,'" he dished to Us Weekly.

When Queen Bey changes her mind, you don't ask questions, you just go with it. Which he obviously did, because the new look was supposedly created in just minutes during the elevator ride. "She says, 'You have five minutes.' And I said, 'Girl, what do you want me to do with the hair?' And she wanted a high ponytail," Neil added. Could this be why she showed up so "fashionably late" to the gala? I guess when you're as powerful as Beyoncé, the ball will wait.
