They're Officially Divorcing, But There's a Twist

by Lindsay Mannering

Aw, this is so sad. Devastating, really. After two years of marriage, teen bride Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison are getting a divorce. Right after the couple's rep confirmed the news, lovers of love everywhere gathered on the Pont de Arts in Paris to mourn the loss of one of our lifetime's most romantic couples. In blonde wigs, sock-stuffed bras, and skull caps, women and men from across the globe tossed bouquets of flowers and Ecstasy into the river below to pay tribute to the end that no one saw coming. Stodden and Hutchison have filed for legal separation and plan on divorcing soon.

Their representative told Hollywood Life:

After two and a half years of marriage, Courtney and Doug have decided to become legally separated. Courtney was married at a young age. Now, at 19, she’s interested in exploring life as an unmarried single young adult – with the freedom to explore her independence.

While we're a little uncomfortable with the world "adult" as it applies to Stodden, we'll go ahead and roll with it. If the government says she's an adult, that's good enough for us.

Anyway, if news of the split is tearing you up, there's good news. Hutchison won't be totally out of Stodden's life... he's moving from role of husband and sex partner to the very dutiful and not at all sleazy role of "manager."

Their rep continues:

Doug supports Courtney 100 percent. The two will share custody of their precious pup, Dourtney, remain living in the same house [for now] in separate bedrooms, and Doug will be co-managing Courtney’s career.

We're also a little uncomfortable with the word "career" as it applies to Stodden, but we won't get too caught up in the semantics here. Oh, and one more thing. The couple vows to continue to be "best of friends" for life, which is possibly even more gag-worthy than their entire marriage. Like, seriously: what do these two even talk about?

Bottom line: the marriage may be over, but Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchinson are still a team. Joy.
