Vanessa Cartlon Is Having a Tough Time

by Alanna Bennett

Our hearts are with Vanessa Carlton in this difficult time — Carlton was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy, a condition that has forced her to subsequently cancel several tour dates. The singer announced her pregnancy last month during the first leg of her tour, but provided an update on Facebook Tuesday telling the world she was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy, and that the emergency treatment accompanying it has caused her ongoing pain, and caused her to cancel four of her November shows. Let's all raise a collective boo for the crap our bodies can pull sometimes.

But she seems to be taking the rough time with good humor:

It is also very important to note that this is the second time I ended up in the ER without underwear! However, upon waking up the next morning in the hospital, and as my doctor was explaining to me what happened the night before, my fiancé showed up. He had flown all night. He had my underwear. My hunter green lace ones :-) I realize I am a lucky woman on many levels here.

We know from an episode of Grey's Anatomy that ectopic pregnancies are a dangerous and stressful thing (Grey's Anatomy's a valid medical source, right? Like WebMD?), so we're glad that Carlton is fine and resting.
