Are Nina Dobrev & Ian Somerhalder Still Friends?

We have all been there. And by "there," I mean being the person who, after a relationship ends, is left fielding all the questions about whether or not you hate your ex when they get a new significant other. Because, of course, you're single and they aren't and so you must be totally bereft. Unfortunately, this is also the case for beloved former Vampire Diaries star, Nina Dobrev. People are still hell-bent on knowing whether or not Nina Dobrev and her ex, Ian Somerhalder, are still friends. I suppose it's human nature to wonder, are they or are they not? Well, I've got the answer for you, and it shouldn't be all that surprising.

Dobrev was asked by E! News about this very awkward and sensitive issue in light of the actor's recent marriage to Nikki Reed. She said of the status of her and Somerhalder's relationship,

I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship. I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now.

So you see, still friends. And as she declared, always was and always will be. If you're rolling your eyes at this politically correct, diplomatic answer because you think the actress was probably coached by her PR team for hours before this interview, I have more evidence that she wasn't lying or even stretching the truth. On her very own Instagram account, the Degrassi alum proved they still have PR-less fun together, by showing their lighthearted interactions together after shooting her final scene.

All's well that ends well, right? And clearly, Dobrev and Somerhalder ended on quite a high note!
