Will Lady Gaga Wear One Of These Wedding Dresses?

by Tyler Atwood

Wedding bells are ringing for Lady Gaga and fiance Taylor Kinney, and what better way to celebrate the couple's impending nuptials than with a selection of conceptual wedding gown sketches for Mother Monster herself? Women's Wear Daily encouraged top couturiers to sketch wedding gown designs for Lady Gaga, and quite frankly, we should all be so lucky as to sport one of the innovative confections whipped up by the participating virtuosos. You can scroll through all 34 designs on the Women's Wear Daily website, but let's summarize some of the looks below.

Spanning the sartorial spectrum from racy to regal, each of the designs presented a different facet of Gaga's personality. According to Lady Gaga, however, the design will pertain less to the singer's notoriously whimsical wardrobe and more to what Kinney envisions. "It will be totally for Taylor. It’s all about my man. I haven’t really thought about anything specific yet but whatever it is, it will be totally for him," Gaga related to Women's Wear Daily.

Depending upon Kinney's taste, there are a plethora of diverse options to choose from. Karl Lagerfeld's design for Chanel evokes Victorian garb with its high neckline, trim waist, and voluminous skirt, while Donna Karan's single-shoulder, gilded mermaid gown is sheer glamour. Meanwhile, Hood by Air's risque, skin-baring sketch appears more of a wedding night ensemble than one for a church ceremony, and Mara Hoffman's live floral shroud appears ideal for a garden wedding.

Yet other designs appear more as expressions of Lady Gaga's psyche than her sartorial taste, unless the chanteuse intends to emerge out of Antonio Marras-designed floral half shell before her trip down the aisle. Whatever imaginative design Lady Gaga chooses to don on her big day, it will undoubtedly challenge the rules of conventional bridal garb and inspire a generation of brides who wish to experiment with their manner of dress instead of playing it safe.
