Let Chrissy Inspire You With Her Charitable Ways

by Jaclyn Anglis

Since Wednesday is Red Nose Day, the spotlight will definitely be on all celebrities who are taking a stand against world poverty. Whether it's through music, comedy, or simply snapping a quick selfie with a red nose on, May 21 is the day where celebrities are encouraged to use their wide platform to raise awareness for the cause. John Legend is one of those celebrities, as seen by his collaboration with Sam Smith in a new edition of "Lay Me Down," which is the official song of Red Nose Day. Some people might be wondering if Legend's wife, model Chrissy Teigen, is also involved in Red Nose Day events.

So far, nothing has been announced about Teigen's collaboration with anyone for the event, but she has certainly done her fair share to help out a variety of charities in the midst of her rise to fame. From reportedly helping out Black Lives Matter protesters with free food to making countless hosting appearances at a variety of galas, the model is all about giving back. In celebration of Teigen's efforts to help others, here is a round up of some of her best charitable moments. Now, this is model behavior!

Money for charity might be considered an odd gift for a wedding present, but it was perfect for someone like Teigen, who made the absolute most of it. When she and Legend married back in fall 2013, Stewart Rahr, billionaire philanthropist extraordinaire, decided to gift Teigen with money to donate to the charity of her choice. She ended up choosing the Somaly Mam Foundation, which battles sex trafficking.

About a year after they were married, the couple took part in some charity events overseas as well as in America. In September 2014, they looked especially cozy over in Florence, Italy while they helped raise awareness about empowering people in impoverished backgrounds.

During the Black Lives Matter protest in New York City last December, which followed the decisions not to indict the police officers in the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, Teigen and Legend reportedly hired food trucks to hand out free food to make sure protestors were well fed.

The Show Me Campaign

The 29-year-old teamed up with her husband in an adorable video this past April to raise awareness and money for Legend's charity that works to break the cycle of poverty by providing quality education to all. The hilarious video features a wedding between the couple's dogs, with Legend singing "All Of Me" over a montage of the pups exchanging vows and eating wedding cake. In the end, Teigen walks in on the funny moment.

City Harvest Gala

Teigen served as a co-chair for the non-profit organization City Harvest Gala, the world's first and New York City's only food rescue program that fights hunger. Alongside Legend, who was also a co-chair, she helped raise nearly $2.2 million dollars to support City Harvest’s anti-hunger programs.

Fresh off her appearance at the Met Gala in May this year, she made her way to the Wellness In The Schools 10th Anniversary Gala. Teigen helped host the event, which helped honor change-makers in the health and wellness space.

So, while we'll have to wait and see if Teigen is involved in Red Nose Day, she's definitely contributed a lot to charity in her lifetime, and I have no doubt she'll continue to in the future.
