When Is Carly Rae Jepsen's New Album Coming Out?

by Alex Kritselis

Inquiring minds want to know: When is Carly Rae Jepsen's new album, E·MO·TION , coming out? That's a really good question! The project's lead single, "I Really Like You," premiered two months ago and, frustratingly, we still haven't been given a release date. Has there been some sort of delay? Is Jepsen not finished recording yet? Does her record label want to wait until she scores another big hit before committing to a date? (Unfortunately, "I Really Like You" isn't shaping up to be a major commercial success.) Basically... what gives?? Until very recently, nobody had any idea when the "Call Me Maybe" singer was planning to drop her next LP. Now, however, we've been given a clue...

Last week, E·MO·TION went up for pre-order on Amazon Japan. The scheduled release date? Tues., June 23. That's, like, 21 days from now. Wow. I wasn't expecting it to be so soon! Now, I know what you're thinking: "That's the Japanese release date. Duh." And you might be right. However, E·MO·TION is listed as an imported item, which could suggest that this is, in fact, the date of its U.S. debut. That, my fellow pop music lovers, would be a dream come true.

Full disclosure: I kind of doubt that E·MO·TION is actually less than a month away — especially when we haven't heard a peep about it from Jepsen yet. (Bummer, I know.) I think it's much more likely that the album will be released sometime in July or August. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway. I don't know about you, but I need Jepsen's sweet, '80s-inspired melodies in my ears ASAP.
