Watch Miley Cyrus Audition For 'Hannah Montana'

by Kadeen Griffiths

It hasn't even been 10 years since the world was a completely different place. The infamous Miley Cyrus twerking incident happened at the 2013 VMAs, and it was only a relatively short time prior to that that the former Disney star had cut and dyed her hair before unveiling a different sound. Nine years ago, Cyrus was still a brunette who was starring in her first episode of the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. The show, which derived a lot of inspiration from plot of the Lizzie McGuire Movie, featured Cyrus as Miley Stewart, a young girl who puts on a blond wig for her career and performances as the pop star Hannah Montana. Now Cyrus' audition tape for Hannah Montana has surfaced on the Internet, and it's the cutest thing ever.

Whether you're a huge fan of Cyrus, or you were a huge fan of her before, or you hated her before, or you still hate her now, just about everyone can agree that Hannah Montana was one of the best Disney Channel shows. (Don't even try and deny that you watch them, because we all do. Even now. Especially Girl Meets World, the sequel series to Boy Meets World.) Cyrus released some songs both before and after exiting Hannah Montana, but she would have had a hard time breaking everyone of seeing her as the titular heroine if she hadn't done something drastic to put her Disney days behind her.

I can't pinpoint the exact stage in this audition tape where I want to wrap a young Cyrus in a blanket and tell her she's the cutest cute to ever have cuted, but it's hard not to feel that emotion at some point during the five minute video. Between her giggles, her wide smiles, and her high squeaky voice that shows off her young age, those who are more familiar with the new Cyrus are going to be completely thrown off by this trip down memory lane. Personally, I respect Cyrus' decision to grow and change as a person, and I'm very much of the opinion that we should let her do her as long as she's not hurting anyone (like, say, keeping the cultural appropriation to a minimum, and trying not to post any more pictures of her using the bathroom in the woods.)

Still, that doesn't mean we can't poke a little fun at her every now and then.
