The High-Tech Hijab Takes On The Elements

by Kali Borovic

In a blend of technology and innovation comes Cool Dry, the first ever climate adapting hijab. Veil, the company behind the product, is looking to combine women's comfort with style to make for one modern approach to the hijab. And the company has already surpassed its Kickstarter goal with 10 days still left to go!

According to BuzzFeed, the company is using the latest in fabric technology to keeps wearers seven to ten degrees cooler than the average hijab. Ahmad Ghanem, the founder of Veil, told BuzzFeed that the hijab can be uncomfortable on hot days, but the world's first climate adaptive hijab is the answer to that.

Ghanem told BuzzFeed, “I want to continue to innovate, revolutionize, and change the way people see the hijab. These women are the strongest and streadfast, and they deserve everything. The hate and verbal abuse many of them receive is wrong and unfair, and I hope my brand can inspire them to go out and become what they want to be.”

The site explains that the idea for Veil came after learning that companies created business shirt specifically for people on the go. They connected the idea to something that had never been done before, and hit the ground running.

In addition to being waterproof and cooling, the company uses laser cut technology to ensure that each hijab has a clean, sharp look.

The Cool Dry is available for pre-order on June 20th and comes in black, silver lake blue, and bright white.

Veil met its goal of $5,000 on Kickstarter in just three days. They now have raised $17,000 with 10 days still left.

With their passion and innovation, this idea could go far.

I can't wait to see the final product!
