Maisie Williams' 'GoT' Finale Reaction Is Perfect
Before we begin, be alert — SPOILERS AHEAD. Like, literally in the next sentence. If your heart has somehow already healed from the death of Lord Commander of the Night's Watch Jon Snow during the season finale of Game Of Thrones on Sunday night, get ready to have it broken all over again. During a Q&A on Twitter Monday night, Maisie Williams — the brilliant actress that plays Arya Stark, shared her reaction to the death of her half-brother on the show, and it was absolutely heart-wrenching — and also probably exactly what we were all thinking during the episode. Her tweet? "OMG STAHP STABBIN JON SNOW," she told a fan.
Same, girl. SAME.
What makes it even worse is that Arya and Jon had one of the most tender relationships on Game Of Thrones. Even though all of the Stark children loved each other — even Sansa, who was a big ol' brat during her time at Winterfell, but still a good sister — Jon and Arya had a very special connection. They both felt like outsiders; Jon because he was shamed for being the "bastard son of Eddard Stark" (not to mention his stepmom was really not too keen about his existence), and Arya because she wanted to fight rather than sit, do crafts, and marry a lord. They were both black sheep of the Stark family, and it was beautiful. They had a bond! UGH THE TEARS WON'T STOP COMING.
What makes it even worse worse? In real life, actor Kit Harington loves Williams just as much as Jon loved Arya. He paid her a compliment of the tallest order, when talking to Dazed Magazine about casting the role of the inimitable Arya Stark:
Arya is one of the hardest to cast, and what you're really looking for is that character in the child. When Maisie walked into the room... she had the energy of Arya, the cockiness and reckless abandon. They're kindred spirits, really.
And let's not forget the moment Jon Snow's departed Winterfell to join the Watch. He's the one that gifted Arya her sword Needle, which would ultimately lead her to Braavos.
THE TEARS. SO MANY TEARS. To quote Williams, OMG STAHP, showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Beinoff!
Here's Williams' tweet:
Sigh. We could all use a hug like this from Harington right about now.
