Are Cara Delevingne & St. Vincent Still Together?

by Maitri Suhas

Cara Delevingne, super-duper-model and integral part of Taylor Swift's girl gang, has opened up to Vogue about her fascinating life, including insight into her relationship with fellow goddess Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent. The two giants among women have had a sexy, mysterious relationship. In March of this year, they were reportedly spotted kissing at a BRIT Awards after-party, and since then, rumors have been everywhere about whether or not the two ethereal fairies masquerading as mortal women are together. That said, Cara Delevingne's words about St. Vincent when speaking with Vogue give me, like, 95 percent hope that Clark is still, at the moment, as I type this, dating Delevingne. Let there be light!

To quote another musical queen, let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start: Delevingne and Clark were allegedly seen smooching at a BRIT Awards after-party in the beginning of March, and then early on in April it seemed like everything was copacetic when they spent a day together in the sweet spring sunshine. (Writing about two beautiful creatures makes me feel very poetic.)

But then, Delevingne posted some troubling, dark Instagrams, that seemed like the equivalent of a sub-tweet directed at Clark. All signs from her 'gram seemed to point to the fact that this union was no longer.

But THEN! About two weeks ago, the model posted a photo of herself and friend Suki Waterhouse watching St. Vincent's set at Governor's Ball, and would you REALLY go to your ex's show? Unless you wanted to get them back, not likely. These are lessons we all learned in high school.

So, to summarize what's happened so far: Clark and Delevingne likely got together around March, possibly broke up in April, and then, either had gotten back together or never broken up in the first place by May.

In the Vogue interview, writer Rob Haskell, writes, "As this story went to press, she was seriously involved with the singer Annie Clark." The Paper Towns star told the magazine that she had found peace in her life wit her girlfriend, explaining, "I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days. And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle." Love really does lift us up where we belong, at least it does when you have the love of Annie Clark.

Delevingne also went on to talk about her sexuality, which she hasn't discussed explicitly much before, and said that women completely inspire her. And I could not agree more. One time I saw Clark perform and my heart was full for, like, a week. I can't even imagine how Cara Delevingne feels being the girl who gets to trot around town with Annie Clark on her arm!

But we can't get too attached to this power couple. "As this story went to press" is basically a disclaimer that their relationship is ephemeral and cannot be defined in such simple terms. Or, more specifically, that their break up may have occurred in the time between the interview being conducted and the issue going to press. Magazine cover interviews are often done a couple months in advance, so it's possible they were together at the time, by mid-June when the interview came out, were broken up.

So, they together right now? Possibly. Hopefully. I want them both to be as happy as can be, but I would also like to see more photos of them from press events or just being themselves, doing whatever two people like them do. Like, buying fresh peonies and feeding each other macarons, right? Long live love.
