Angiyl & Cookie Are The First Female Hip Hop Duo On 'So You Think You Can Dance,' But Only 1 Is Good Enough For Vegas

For the first time on So You Think You Can Dance, we got to see a female Hip Hop duo audition together. Not since Season 8's incredible Sasha Mallory and her equally amazing sister Natalia had I been more excited to see these two perform together. And while I found the whole routine to be highly entertaining, only one of these amazing dancers got that golden ticket to Las Vegas week. Angiyl and Cookie auditioned together in a strange, quirky, and completely compelling Hip Hop routine. Together they were pretty unstoppable, but i was clear early in the audition that Angiyl was a cut above the rest, including her partner. In fact, she could be a star in Vegas week and beyond.

Now that's not to say that Cookie was bad, far from it. She absolutely was talented herself. Unfortunately, as the judges stated correctly, Angiyl's unique star power overpowered her partner's more rigid and constricted movements. It's clear that Angiyl will impress in Vegas, I think tWitch and choreographers Tabatha and Napoleon are going to be dreaming up routines to do with her, if she can make it thought the week that is. But I have every faith in this truly original talent. In fact, I'm kind of sad about the new format in Las Vegas week because I would have loved to see how Sonya Tayeh would react to Angiyl's movements. They could create some magic together.

Once again, there's no love lost for Cookie. The judges were still extremely impressed with the dancer and asked her to come back next year. She promised to the camera that she would and I hope she sticks to that word. It would be a shame if we didn't get to see both of these talented women dancing so brilliantly on the show, regardless of the season.
