Kate Gosselin is Not Racist, Says Kate Gosselin

by Kate Ward

After a photo appeared online Monday that showed Jon & Kate Plus 8 star Kate Gosselin seemingly mocking Asians, the former reality star took to her blog to defend her actions.

Gosselin, who is the mother of eight biracial children (ex-husband Jon Gosselin was a Korean-American), claims the photo was stolen from her home computer. Even more surprising than the thought of Gosselin making a headline without her permission is the fact that the reality star called the picture "a happy memory." Gosselin claimed that, in the old picture, she was just trying to make ex-husband laugh.

"It was a happy time for me and Jon, smiling and 'goofing off' together," she wrote. "Jon and I were opening fan mail together one afternoon — which often filled the garage of our Elizabethtown home — and when we opened this plastic Asian dress up wig sent from a caring fan, we smiled, each taking turns posing in it and snapping photos (on my phone) of each other. Naturally, I 'slanted' my eyes to show him my best Asian impression, which made him smile."

Naturally. Gosselin continued, "I married an Asian. I have eight biracial children therefore I’m quite certain that I’m the last person that could be called a racist. I learned to cook Korean foods from Jon’s mom and grandmother. I couldn’t be more proud of my eight beautiful children and wouldn’t change anything about them or their heritage. They are absolutely perfect just the way they are."

In fairness, Gosselin's story seems to add up — she also released a photo of Jon wearing the same wig, presumably at the same time the star's picture was taken. Now can we go back to our favorite show, Jon & Kate Plus No Publicity?
