LC's Favorite Summer Nail Colors Are Perfect

by Jamie Cuccinelli

If you're wondering what to do with your nails this summer, allow Lauren Conrad's must-have summer nail colors to help you out. If you were still looking for the perfect shade that will get you from the beach to the bar and everywhere in between, LC has got your back. Doesn't she always?

There's no greater time than summer to play up your hands hot and bright nail polish colors. Creamy corals and mermaid sea greens never looked better than against sun-kissed, tanned skin. And brightly hued, sandy toes make a perfect canvas for your brand new summer sandals. In a guest post for Refinery29, Lauren Conrad shared her summer nail essentials, writing "Beachy getaways, cocktails by the pool... and fresh manis and pedis."

And with her personal favorite nail colors on hand, the possibilities for a pretty summer mani are totally endless! Of course, bright corals and shimmery shades made the cut, but with the unexpected pop of creamy citrus and a little help from LC, your nails will be taking center stage in the summer sun.

Keep all eyes on your colorful fingers and toes, whether your sipping a margarita or strutting down the boardwalk. Head over to Refinery to check out the exact shades she recommends, and read on for my own alternatives. After all, who better to trust with sunny looks than a Cali girl?

Neon Pink

Inspired by Malibu Barbie, Conrad loves a good neon pink that really pops on toes. If pink is not your thing but you still want that bright, day-glow pop that only a neon shade can bring, try another hue that's suited to your skin tone. A dark neon purple such as Beach Cruiser by China Glaze compliments pale pink or yellow undertones. Neon red or orange makes bronzed skin really glow. And electric blue (like Sinful Colors' Endless Blue ) pops on darker skin.

Peachy Keen

LC cites peach shades as being "at the top of [her] go-to summer polish list." As a universally flattering shade, peach hues look good on everyone. So make it your own by adding some gold glitter. Whether it just covers an accent nail or is part of a more intricate design, gold is the perfect compliment to a peachy keen shade.

A Pop of Citrus

Conrad loves a soft, creamy yellow on her nails to match her lemonade. But if you're looking for something a bit bolder, make yours match the summer sun. This yellow shade, Funshine Smoothie from ILoveNP, has a crisp golden shimmer thrown in, so you can put your own spin on the citrus hue.

Nautical Navy

Conrad's right — nothing says summer more than a navy blue nail! Make it even more nautical by striping your nail with an opaque white. The impressive nail design is made super easy with scotch tape.

Glitter, Glitter, Everywhere

LC knows that no summer mani is complete without a healthy dose of glitter. One of the most unique and summer-friendly shimmery shades is Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid's Dream. With small flecks of turquoise glitter in the seafoam shade, you just might be mistaken for a sea siren.
