Show Your Independence with this DIY Face Mask

A holiday weekend is already a cause for celebration, add the fourth of July holiday, and you've got yourself a recipe for an epic weekend. Unfortunately, an unexpected pimple always threaten to ruin a celebration and in that case, a fourth of July face mask is definitely in order to ease your worries AND your inflammation. With over 60 million Americans suffering from acne, it's the perfect time to put the colors of our flag all over our face to fight back. This strawberry, blueberry, and organic yogurt mask will be a step forward for clear skin coast to coast.

For months, I've lived a pimple-free life — I would call it a miracle, but it was actually hard work. Keeping a diligent skincare routine and abstaining from my disgraceful late-night snack habit has proven to keep those breakouts out of my life. Of course, at the first sign of excitement or stress, my skin is always back to its old tricks. It's safe to say that my skin knows how I'm feeling before anyone else does, providing a cruel that I am not immune to pimples nor will I ever be. "Thank you face, I really appreciate the reminder, but next time you can just send an e-mail instead of ruining a perfectly good holiday weekend."

Fortunately for anyone sharing the same pimple crisis just in time for the fourth, you can support your local farmers and your skin by making this DIY face mask below with three simple ingredients. According to sources at Stylecraze, strawberries have been scientifically proven to have antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and astringent properties that can prevent and treat acne and even slow down signs of aging. Next, we're going to add blueberries, another powerful antioxidant, with vitamins A, C, and E to keep our skin scar-free. Finally, organic yogurt is going to be our moisturizing base; with probiotics and vitamin D, yogurt is a pretty solid ingredient to tone and restore complexions.

This recipe will definitely show your own independence and make you camera ready for all those insta-photos you'll be taking on the fourth. Here's how to DIY your way to clear skin:

You'll need the following:

  • 1 handful of organic blueberries
  • 2 medium-large strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon of organic, plain yogurt
  • A blender

Put the plain yogurt into a blender and add your clean fruit. Blend well and pour the contents into a sealable container for future use. Apply directly on your face and neck, keeping your mask on for at least 5 minutes. Rinse well and apply your toner and moisturizer.
