Cara Delevingne, Coco Rocha, Daria Werbowy, and All Our Other Model BFFs Provide Your Weekend Instagram Inspiration

Maybe it's Disney-Princess Syndrome or maybe it's the deep-seated placement of fashion editorials in the psyche of the American Woman, or maybe it's our own latent narcissism, but who hasn't wanted to be a model at one point? I remember being in the subways of NYC with two friends, when all of a sudden, we saw them: two girls, waiting for the train, both unmistakably models. It was the long legs, the incredible height, the skinny jeans, the black ankle boots. Everything about them screamed model. And we were all like, "Oh. That's why they're the models and we're just the cool normal girls. Makes sense now."

Social media has turned models from elusive fashion clotheshorses into living, breathing, goofy creatures with opinions of their own and endless selfie-taking capabilities. As you head into the weekend, let their Instagram feeds inspire you. Maybe you're not a working model, but that doesn't mean you can't play like one.

Eat lunch outside

This is Jess Stam eating soup on a stoop in boyish layers. No shame in trying to recreate this exact shot on Sunday afternoon.

Double up on sweaters

You may not have scored big at Isabel Marant for H&M like Liu Wen did, but you can still pair a chunky knit pullover with an even chunkier knit zip-up sweater in lieu of a real coat.

Put your name on a shirt

This is the coolest t-shirt I've seen all year. New mission: white shirt, black sharpie, turning my last name into a verb, forcing my friends to wear it around town.

Apply razor-sharp lipstick...

The precise black eyeliner, the hair pulled down toward the brows, and the boyish white t-shirt are the perfect backdrop for Coco Rocha's carefully applied red lip.

...then leave your mark

Drop a secret kiss on a napkin, like Carolyn Murphy did, or leave one in the corner of a love note, winking cheekily from your bathroom mirror, or pressed onto your lover's inner wrist, like a hidden tattoo of you.

Find Wonderland

You know, the place where everything is larger than life, where you feel like you've stepped through a painting, where you feel like a kid again. Whether that's a playground during sunset, the kid's section of a museum, or the secret roof of a hotel after hours, it's somewhere in your city.

Depuff your eyes

Do it like Daria Werbowy, with the oldest trick in the book: two wet teabags and a bad attitude. #hangovercity

Pose against the sky

If this photo doesn't make you want to bleach your hair and only wear white for the rest of your life, I don't know what's wrong with you. Chanel Anja Konstantinova in a less drastic way by forgoing boring backgrounds like skyscrapers and bathroom mirrors and facing the camera with all you've got: your pretty face and miles of sky.
