Vanessa Williams Marries Boyfriend Jim Skrip In Surprise 4th Of July Wedding

Let's be real, here — I've been loving Vanessa Williams since the early '90s, when she was responsible for not one, but two of my favorite songs ever: "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas, and "Save the Best for Last", which are still serious jams, even all these years later. Admittedly, I sort of lost touch with her career in the years following, but I've still held a place in my heart for her, which is why I was really happy to hear that Vanessa Williams married boyfriend Jim Skrip in a surprise (well, a surprise to us!) wedding over the 4th of July weekend. Now there's something worth celebrating!

People reports that Williams and Skrip tied the knot in front of family and friends on Saturday, though little more is known about the ceremony. The actress teased her special day on Twitter on Thursday, posting a status about a road trip she'd be taking for the holiday weekend. The post also linked to an Instagram photo of herself and Skim together, though it's since been deleted. Thankfully, due to the fact that nothing that's ever posted online can ever be truly removed, you can enjoy the faces of the happy couple below:

Adorable, right? They look so happy! And while we may never find out any more about the big day, I think we can all agree that marrying someone you truly love is always a happy occasion, so we can pretty safely assume that Williams and Skrip's wedding day was all-around amazing and a perfect way to celebrate Independence Day, right?

Williams announced her engagement on The Queen Latifah Show back in September 2014, gushing, "I have had a lot of good things happen... I just got engaged a couple of weeks ago. It has been a lot of blessings." And that certainly seems to be the case, as well. She met Skrip while on vacation in Egypt a few years ago, when she'd been divorced from her second husband for nearly 10 years. But you know what they say: it's when you're not looking for it that love sneaks up on you. That certainly seems to be the case here, and that's awesome.

Congratulations to the happy couple — here's to a long and happy marriage.
