Nichelle Is The Best 'Hollywood Cycle' Instructor
If there's one thing you will remember from the promo for E! newest reality series Hollywood Cycle , it'll be Cycle House's lead instructor Nichelle Hines' brilliant reaction to being told that she's "not the queen of this place." Nichelle doesn't say anything, but you can tell by her eye roll, hand motion, and an exasperated sound effect that she wholeheartedly disagrees with that statement. I, for one, can't wait to see how the rest of that scene plays out, although I'm pretty sure things are not going to end well for whoever said such a thing to Nichelle.
If this promo tells me anything, it's that Nichelle is going to be the Hollywood Cycle cast member to watch when the series premieres on E! Tuesday night. Whether or not Nichelle is actually running things over at Cycle House, it looks like she has the attitude and confidence to at least think she is, which must make life interesting for her co-workers and will definitely make for an entertaining reality show for us. In the end, isn't that all that really matters anyway?
However, do a quick Google search for Nichelle, and you'll find that she doesn't really appear to be the outspoken drama queen the promo for Hollywood Cycle portrays her to be. In fact, she seems like a lovely person you would definitely want to hang out with after she gets done screaming at you to keep pedaling your leggings off. Here's why Nichelle should be officially crowned the Queen of Cycle House.
1. She's The Chief Ride Officer
In addition to that important-sounding title, Nichelle is also Cycle House's lead instructor. So yeah, Nichelle is basically the boss around the studio. I don't know what that dude was thinking.
2. Her Brother Works At Cycle House Too
Nichelle's brother Aaron Hines also works at Cycle House as an instructor and the director of training. Whenever you bring family into the mix on a reality show, you always heighten the drama, so I definitely approve of having two Hineses around. From his official Hollywood Cycle bio, it looks like Aaron is a bit of a player who thinks he's the one in charge, so that's sure to cause some conflict with Nichelle as well. We'll just have to wait and see if these two end up sharing a tandem bike at the end of the day or not.
3. She Had A Unique Career Path
Becoming a spin instructor was kind of an accident for Nichelle. As she describes it on her website, during one class in 2008, the spin instructor didn't show up, so the gym's manager asked her to lead the session. She became an instructor at the gym the next day. That sounds like something out of a movie, but clearly, Nichelle can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.
4. She Has Whipped Many Celebs Into Shape
Cycle House has a long list of celebrity clientele, and Nichelle has worked with many of them. Some of her recent clients include Jamie Chung, Shay Mitchell, and Maria Menounos.
5. She's An Actress
Nichelle didn't grow up wanting to be a spin instructor. She actually always wanted to be an actress. She earned bachelor's degrees in English and dramatic arts from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.F.A. from New York University, according to her website. While pursuing her graduate degree, Nichelle took her first spin class, eventually leading to that fateful day in 2008.
Nichelle would go on to earn her Screen Actors Guild card when she landed a role in The Sopranos and appear on Grey's Anatomy, The King of Queens, and Everybody Hates Chris before the writer's strike of 2008 derailed her acting career for a bit. However, it did put her in the fast lane to pursue a career as a spin instructor, which seems to have worked out for her so far. Nichelle has returned to acting in recent years with roles in Parenthood, Scandal, and NCIS: Los Angeles. Now we know why she seems so entertaining.
6. She's Already Making Friends With Other E! Stars
Nichelle recently documented on Instagram a spin sesh with Morgan Stewart and Dorothy Wang of another E! reality show, Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, who seem to have welcomed her to the network's family with open arms. You know that cast is hard to please, so if she can kick it with them, she can kick it with anyone.
See, what did I tell you? Bow down.
