Shop Olivia Palermo's French-Inspired Low-Cut Look

by Kali Borovic

The biggest names in fashion traveled to Paris this week for the Fall 2015 Haute Couture shows, and they brought their best style game along with them. Olivia Palermo wore a Dior French-inspired dress to hit the front row of the Schaiparelli presentation, showing that great style can transcend cultures. The low-cut look was perfect for a day in Paris, but could easily be worn across the pond as well.

Taking a feminine dress and giving it a few more masculine touches via her accessories, Palermo transformed the low-cut Dior shift dress into the perfect summer outfit. She managed to make a plunging (I'm talking down to her belly-button) neckline look almost modest with the addition of a neck scarf, proving why she's a queen of fashion. With just the right amount of accessories and some effortless styling, Palermo took the French-inspired fashion trend and made the look completely her own.

She paired the black and red mini-checkered dress with a simple, nude flat to finish off her minimalist front row look. Combined with her perfectly pink lipstick, Palermo managed to sneak just enough color into her checkered ensemble. She finished the outfit off with a thick gold bangle and a pair of statement sunnies, and these little details made her look seem effortless.

You can recreate her ensemble in three easy steps. If I've learned anything from Palermo, it's that statement accessories and a breezy summer dress can do wonders. Change up her flats with your favorite pair of sandals or wedges to make the look even more laid back.

1. Find the perfect low-cut dress

Not looking to show a lot of skin? No problem. There are ways to get around the super plunging neckline while still channelling your inner Palermo.

2. Add a subtle neck scarf

Add color or pattern into the outfit by choosing a scarf that fits your signature style. Pick something light and airy that won't bother you in the summer heat.

3. Slip into a flat

Keep it a nude flat for a Palermo-inspired look or add a little color to make the outfit your own. Like the style star has taught us, the more "you" the look, the better!
