Ariana Grande's Makeup Artist Spills How To Sweatproof Your Face For Summer
While we may not be flouncing around under hot stage lights in kitten ears like Ariana Grande, we all struggle with the summer heat melting our faces off. Luckily, there are ways to ensure your makeup stays on all night long, no matter what crazy shenanigans you're up to. Ariana Grande's makeup artist dishes on how to sweatproof your makeup, and it's exactly what your summer beauty routine needs.
Makeup artist Daniel Chinchilla is livin' the dream with Grande on tour, and by now knows how to make makeup stay through every dance routine and musical ensemble. He shared his top picks for foundation, eye shadow, and lipstick that won’t budge, no matter how much drama you put it through.
First and foremost, get your foundation right. Chinchilla suggests switching to a matte formula for summer and applying it in thin layers with a Beautyblender sponge. Then, according to Allure, he said to use a flat brush to press a small amount of translucent powder onto your face.
“Setting foundation with powder is so important and a step that people usually leave out,” said Chinchilla. “Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder is great because it has a light texture and it mattes the skin without looking heavy.”
Now that you have a solid, smudge-proof foundation, move on to shadow. "I start out with Neutrogena Shine Control Primer and Too Faced Shadow Insurance to absorb oil,” said Chinchilla. “And with the Shadow Insurance, your eye shadows will also go on easier and look more pigmented. I started using Maybelline Color Tattoo 24-Hour Cream Gel Shadow on clients because it's supersaturated and the waterproof formula glides on easily without creasing,” he said.
