8 Lana Del Rey Songs To Sing At Karaoke

by Caitlyn Callegari

I know that the kind of music Lana Del Rey puts out into the world can't be truly duplicated — especially not when you consider the fact that it takes a quality only Del Rey has to truly pull off a Del Rey song. But, that doesn't mean that in my drunken stupor at a karaoke bar, I won't suddenly muster up the bravado to at least try and sing with pure, velvety soul like she does. I mean, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, isn't it? If you think of it that way, if you or I butcher a Lana Del Rey song at karaoke when we're three mojitos in, it's more of a tribute than a travesty.

At least, to those who don't have to hear us... I guess.

Even if there are haters in your midst, it's probably just because they aren't brave enough to tackle a Del Rey song by themselves. What I'm trying to say is, if you're hesitant on going this route, don't be. You'll likely please more people with your superior song selection than you'll piss off. Because, really, at this point, who doesn't love Del Rey? (Other than like, monsters or tyrants or maybe grandma. But what does grandma know, anyway, other than how to make a mean chocolate chip cookie?)

Here are the best Lana Del Rey songs to sing at karaoke, because when we're drunk, we're all sultry superstars:

1. "National Anthem"

Honestly, who doesn't love having an excuse to say, "Bugatti Veyron" over and over again in a public setting?

2. "Born to Die"

When the chardonnay you're sipping on is giving you all the feels.

3. "Summertime Sadness"

To get the party poppin'... in a subdued, muted way.

4. "Ride"

Because the chorus is super easy to remember, which will allow you to focus on giving your best, emphatic performance for your fans. Oh, yeah, and the song is badass, like you.

5. "Young And Beautiful"

Because even if you're not in the midst of a bunch of Del Rey mega fans, everyone knows this one. And, who doesn't love a sing-along?

6. "Cola"

For if you're feeling particularly frisky. Probably best delivered among friends... in a private room.

7. Diet Mtn. Dew

This is an upbeat, catchy tune that's not too difficult to sing along to, so it's a crowd pleaser. Also, there are just never enough songs about soda.

8. Gods And Monsters

What's better than covering a Lana Del Rey song? Covering a Lana Del Rey song that Jessica Lange covered, of course!

So, get down with your bad self. go up on that stage, cover yourself in an American flag, and sing, baby, sing.
