Happy National Tequila Day! 11 Tequila Drinks You Need To Celebrate Properly

Get your margaritas ready — it's National Tequila Day, and there's no better way to celebrate than with a few festive tequila drinks. Not that it will be easy to decide on one. There are countless recipes for tequila cocktails out there, and even within the classics, you can find infinite variations. (Should a margarita include orange liqueur? You'll have to do some taste tests to decide for yourself.)

If you're feeling bold, you can even go for just straight tequila. (I'm not talking about shots, though if that's your thing, go for it.) Good tequila, much like whiskey, is made to be appreciated just as much on its own as it is in a cocktail. When you look for a sipping tequila, you want a smooth, balanced spirit where the grassy agave notes aren't overpowered by the alcohol. Aged tequila, called reposado or añejo, is great for sipping, because it allows you to taste and appreciate the more complex flavors that the aging process produces.

And while we've focused on cocktails here, there's really no wrong way to consume tequila. Strawberry margarita cream-filled doughnuts, anyone?

So grab a bottle and start celebrating. iSalud!
