Manolo Blahnik's First Full Bag Collection Is Coming — Here's Everything We Know
Manolo Blahnik landed on the pop culture and fashion map thanks to Sarah Jessica Parker, Carrie Bradshaw, and Sex and the City. The designer and his namesake shoes became known by the mononym "Manolos" in fashion lexicon and the term meant one very important thing: Shoes! Well, sexy, strappy, high heels, to be more specific. Now the Manolo Blahnik brand is launching its first bag collection that is a standalone range. Let's all take a second to jump up and down and clap our hands until they are reddened and sore. This sort of news invites and demands that kind of fevered excitement.
Those with an appreciation for the brand's shoes will no doubt be drawn to the bag series, which is launching this month. It's about time that Manolo Blahnik created a full, separate bag line that wasn't crafted merely in conjunction with a pair of (his fabulous) shoes. Blahnik's shoes are sexy, but always classy — and the first set of bags appear to be more of the latter.
Here's everything we know about the upcoming Blahnik bag collection, which is starting with a capsule of six clutch evening bags before evolving to include day bags, according to Women's Wear Daily.
That's good news, because we have more to look forward to.
1. Evening Bags
Blahnik told Vogue UK that "I am always inspired by beautiful women from the past and present, so when I thought about doing a collection of bags, I was sure they were going to be evening bags for the women of today."
2. Shoe Inspiration
"These bags are an extension of some of the shoe styles I really like as I wanted to keep the connection between the shoes and bags," the designer also said to Vogue UK.
Just lovely, right? Since he loves ornaments for his heels, he decided to add a similar ornamentation to the bags.
3. Bags (And Shoes) Only... For Now
Don't expect Blahnik to further expand in the accessories realm, despite having launched a unisex sock line. For now, he's all about bags. And of course, his signature shoes, which even pair well with your AM caffeine boost. He told Vogue, "At the moment, I have no plans to make other accessories. For the moment, I would like to enjoy the bags, and I am already thinking about more bags for next season!"
Ah! That is a very good thing. It means he is inspired by the bags he has already made.
4. Magic Materials
According to WWD, the bags will be comprised of luxe materials like silk, crepe, and embellished with Swarovksi crystals.
The designer said, "Every woman needs a jewel — something very special and beautiful. There is nothing more stunning than a feminine hand holding a gemlike object." The man does know how to work jewels, as evidenced by the shoes pictured above.
5. Price Is Right
Blahnik is a luxe brand, so you can expect this collection of hand gems set you back from $1700 to $1900. They will not be sold online, either, according to Style Blazer. So they will have instant "coveted" status.
These little bags will certainly up the ante for any fancy outfit if you have the loot cakes to afford 'em. Whatever the case, they are eye candy.
