Miss Curvy’s Commitment To Curvy Confidence:

A notable initiative encouraging more inclusive beauty standards and empowering curvy women across the industry

Written by Contributing Writer

What started as a bold, all-plus-size runway show has grown into a year-long mission to challenge traditional beauty standards and amplify the voices of curvy women worldwide. Miss Curvy has secured a significant pledge to empower curvy women beyond the runway, exploring how beauty, confidence, and impact are understood today.

Miss Curvy, the global pageant supported by WooPlus, has unveiled a new initiative focused on driving long-term change. Following its highly anticipated debut at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), the organization announced the CurveItUp Million Dollar Impact Initiative. This commitment aims to open doors for curvy women across industries by boosting their opportunities and visibility.

Funding for the initiative will come from community participation in Miss Curvy’s Curve It Up campaign. According to a Wooplus announcement, the goal is to reshape how society measures beauty, confidence, and self-worth — both on and off the runway.

From Runway To A Wider Cultural Movement

At its NYFW debut, plus-size models took to the runway not only as fashion figures, but as storytellers. Each model shared a personal journey of resilience and self-reclamation in an industry long criticized for its narrow beauty standards.

"Miss Curvy provides a stage where curvy women can show their unique charm, personality, and style," said Tigress Osborn, "WooPlus shares the goal of changing the way the world sees bodies. All of us showing up and showing out together during New York Fashion Week? That's proof that big-bodied representation belongs on the biggest stages!"

For Rosie Moon, participating in Miss Curvy was more than a fashion debut; it was a dream come true. A gamer, dancer, and self-proclaimed witchcraft enthusiast, Rosie has always been drawn to self-expression through performance.

“I first heard about Miss Curvy when I joined WooPlus looking for a relationship,” Rosie said. “One day I just thought — let’s do this and see what happens. I’d never done livestreaming or anything like that before, but now I can’t imagine if I hadn’t.” She admitted to struggling with body image in the past, often comparing herself to the idealized figures she saw on social media. “You think, ‘I could never wear that or look like them,’” she said. “But in reality, you just rock it in your own way, and that’s absolutely stunning.”

For Rosie, walking the NYFW runway was a personal victory. “It was the most significant achievement of my life,” she said.

Jolie Dudley, a producer, comedian, and animal rescue advocate, had a similarly empowering experience. Jolie has found success in the entertainment industry. Yet the fashion world has not always felt inclusive.

“I went to open calls across Manhattan and didn’t see a single plus-size model - literally zero,” she recalled. “In one space, I was the ‘exact right’ size as a fit model, and moments later, I felt like I didn’t belong at all.”

Walking the runway with Miss Curvy, she said, was a moment of much-needed visibility. “When I walk, I’ll be thinking of the younger me who felt she didn’t belong, and the future me who looks back proudly on what she’s accomplished.”

For Icely, a floral and cake designer, deciding to join Miss Curvy was an act of personal courage. “I’ve struggled with body image and social anxiety for as long as I can remember,” she shared. “I’ve struggled with my body image and social anxiety my whole life. One day I opened my app, saw the casting invite, and just thought - why not?”

As a mother, Icely saw the experience as a way to empower both herself and her child. “Being part of this runway lets me come out of my shell. It’s way out of my comfort zone, but if I can do this, I can do anything—and I hope my son sees that too.”

Rosie, Jolie, and Icely are just a few of the voices shaping the Miss Curvy movement. Each woman brings her own story of strength and self-expression to the collective message: Beauty is not defined by size, but by confidence, creativity, and courage.

According to WooPlus, the initiative has two core components that work together to empower and elevate curvy women. The first is community rewards and competitions, which support the creative and professional aspirations of curvy women through seasonal and annual events designed to celebrate talent, innovation, and confidence. The second is advocacy partnerships and ambassador programs, which focus on increasing the visibility of curvy women in fashion, media, and culture, ensuring that representation and inclusivity remain at the forefront of industry conversations.

Both components will be led by curvy creators and community leaders, with the goal of progressing online celebration into tangible change.

“Every act of support, every interaction, reinforced how vital representation is,” said Neil Raman, founder and CEO of WooPlus. “This milestone wasn’t achieved by us alone; it was made possible through the collective engagement of our community. This moment is truly historic.”

WooPlus’ Next Chapter: Beyond Dating

For WooPlus - the platform that spawned Miss Curvy, building connections was just the start. After years of fostering a community where curvy people are celebrated and seen, WooPlus is entering a new era: one centered on cultural visibility, creative expression, and empowerment, all beyond the realm of dating.

“We are expanding the possibilities for curvy women everywhere,” said Raman. “WooPlus was created to support those often left out of the conversation. Now, with Miss Curvy and the CurveItUp Million Dollar Impact Initiative, we are proving that love, visibility, and opportunity can flourish together. This is only the beginning.”
