5 Reasons The Mazda CX-90 Is The Pinnacle Of Driving Empowerment

by Una LaMarche

Gone are the days when a woman shopping for a vehicle might be stereotyped as someone with little car knowledge or solely concerned with visual aesthetics. Today, women are empowered consumers who prioritize power, connection, and control when choosing their ride. We want a versatile vehicle that’s as intuitive, dynamic, and confident as we are. We want responsive performance wrapped in a luxury SUV package that feels safe and smart and tech-savvy and fun to drive. Is that too much to ask?

Well, not anymore. Meet the Mazda CX-90, the 3-row SUV that curates an elevated driving experience engineered around every woman’s biggest green flag: connection. Here’s why we’re obsessed:

It’s So Stylish, You’ll Look Forward To Every Drive

Sorry if it sounds superficial, but this car was designed to be admired. Mazda has always had an eye for dynamic form, and the CX-90 is no exception. Its exterior features signature sculpting to harness shadows and light, reflecting not just the gorgeous lines of the car itself but also the beauty of the world around it. The interior options offer available crafted details like Kakenui stitching — a Japanese technique that adds depth and dimension to every seam — with available Nappa leather-trimmed seats, maple wood accents, ergonomic controls and seating, and an available panoramic moonroof that create a peaceful, harmonious space you’ll not only covet, but crave spending time in.

It Feels Like It Was Literally Built For You

Mazda is known for its devotion to engineering the car to fit the driver, building its vehicles around the human form so that driving feels seamless, and the CX-90 takes that to a whole new level. The CX-90 is incredibly nimble for a 3-row SUV, with ultra-responsive handling that fully connects driver and vehicle. Mazda’s available Driver Personalization System is incredible — it uses facial recognition software to recognize and remember a driver’s height and eye level, which it then uses to calculate the ideal driving position, automatically adjusting your seat, steering wheel, available Active Driving Display (more on that below), and outside mirrors for a bespoke setup that makes you feel like the car was made to order for your body.¹

It Brings a Holistic Approach to Safety

There’s nothing more important than having effortless peace of mind while driving, and it’s no surprise that Mazda has outfitted the CX-90 with a suite of intuitive safety features that artfully blend form and function. The available Active Driving Display is a small, full color projection of important information such as speed, following distance, and upcoming navigation route guidance that appears on the windshield in your line of sight to help you keep your eyes on the road. Mazda’s top-of-the-line i-Activsense® Safety technology alerts you to many potential hazards with Blind Spot Monitoring, Smart Brake Support, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, and more.² If you’re traveling with kids, the CX-90 comes equipped with LATCH systems for all seats in the second row and the outboard seats in the third row.

It’s Infinitely Adaptable

The CX-90 seats up to eight passengers with flexible 3-row options that you can configure to suit your needs, making it the perfect vehicle for every car girl with an eye for design, whether she’s a mom shuttling her kids around town in style and/or a woman who wants a ride that’s as versatile and adventurous as she is.³ The second and third rows both fold flat to expand the cargo hold, but even without it, you’ll have plenty of space to pack your bags for anything from a weekend getaway to an epic adventure.⁴ Eco-conscious (or just eco-curious) drivers will be thrilled that this new SUV is also available in a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) version — the first of its kind for Mazda.

It’s Pretty And Powerful

The CX-90 isn’t just a looker; it’s equipped with Mazda’s first turbocharged Inline 6 gasoline engine, with base 3.3 Turbo models generating 280 horsepower and 3.3 Turbo S models adding to the incredibly upmarket feel of this sleek flagship SUV with up to 340 horsepower when using the recommended premium octane fuel. The PHEV model marries a 2.5-liter four cylinder gasoline engine with a 173 horsepower electric motor powered by a 17.8-kWh battery pack, which work in tandem to deliver a total output of up to 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using the recommended premium octane fuel and can reach up to 80% of a full charge in about two hours.⁵ In layman’s terms, that math adds up to unadulterated driving nirvana.

Simply put, the Mazda CX-90 is elegantly designed with an aesthete’s eye, thoughtfully crafted for both safety and adventure, and even more intelligent and powerful than its dynamic form suggests.

¹ DPS is a driver-enabled feature that utilizes a driver facing camera to scan facial features and convert them into numeric information to save as a Driver Profile, which is secured, stored in-vehicle, and not subject to remote access. DPS may also include Driving Position Assist which is driver-enabled and uses height you input and center point of your eyebrows captured by the driver facing camera; no personal data is stored related to this function unless you create a Driver Profile. You can delete a saved Driver Profile at any time. See your Owner’s Manual for further details. ² i-Activsense® safety features are not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. There are limitations to the range and detection of each safety feature. Safety features vary based on vehicle package and trim combinations.
