Activists and sound artists Heidi Sabertooth and Cy X are the founders of Synth Library NYC, a lending library of synthesizers, recording equipment, and other electronic musical instruments working to democratize access to music technology in New York City.

Launched in May 2021, the project works much like a gear share program. “Individuals are able to ‘check-out’ a synthesizer and take it home for three weeks, just like one would borrow a book from the public library,” says Sabertooth.
