Never one to back down from making a damn good point about a critical issue, Amber Tamblyn wedged herself into a terse Twitter disagreement between actors James Woods and Armie Hammer over the "appropriateness" of the couples' ages in Hammer's new film Call Me By Your Name when she spoke up and alleged that Woods had attempted to pick Tamblyn up when she was a teenager. Bustle has reached out to Woods' reps about the comments, but has not received a response. If there is any truth to the allegations, then Tamblyn's comments would be very damning towards Woods' character, adding to Hammer's criticism of Woods.

On Sunday Sept. 10, Woods retweeted one Twitter user's critique of Hammer's new film, Call Me By Your Name. The film revolves around a 24-year-old man (Hammer) entering into a romantic relationship with a teenage boy. Woods agreed with the critic, writing, "As they chip away at the last barriers of decency," and — in a somewhat controversial move — he hashtagged NAMBLA, an association which promotes and advocates for relationships between adults and minors.

Hammer quickly pointed out that Woods himself has been in two relationships where a notable age difference was present. As corroborated by Business Insider, Woods began dating a young woman named Ashley Madison when she was 19 and he was 59; this is possibly the relationship to which Hammer was referring. It was at this point that Tamblyn stepped in to further point out that Woods has allegedly exhibited a pattern of behavior like this in the past, tweeting the claim that: "James Woods tried to pick me and my friend up at a restaurant once. He wanted to take us to Vegas. 'I'm 16' I said. 'Even better' he said."

The allegation itself is quite a jarring one, first and foremost because if it is true, then it would indicate that Woods is acting in a hypocritical manner. While the relationships we, the public, know about involving two people of legal age, Tamblyn's allegations would cement his hypocrisy in critiquing that fictional underage relationship. It's certainly not a crime to want to date a younger person, but that is not in line with Tamblyn's allegations; she is claiming something far more damaging.

Tamblyn has also not followed up at this time to clarify her allegations or expand on them. Additionally, Hammer has not released a public statement or commented on Tamblyn's allegations. Regardless, this Twitter interaction rightfully set the Twitter ablaze and reminded us that Tamblyn is bold as hell.
