Brie Larson Congratulating Emma Stone Is Emotional

Sunday night was huge for Emma Stone. The actor won her first Oscar at just 28 years old, taking home Best Actress for her performance in La La Land. This isn't even Stone's first nomination, as in 2015 she was up for best Best Supporting Actress for her role in Birdman, but the win is nonetheless a massive moment in her career. While the entire Hollywood community was definitely excited for her to win, it was the emotional embrace between Stone and fellow star Brie Larson that caught my attention. If anyone knows what it feels like to receive this Oscar honor it's Brie Larson, who won the same award last year for her moving performance in Room. Larson, who was at the awards as a presenter this year, and got the chance to congratulate Stone personally. Larson and Stone are friends, and the moment they shared backstage will make you so emotional.

This isn't the first time the two actors have appeared together. They met up at a pre-Oscars party, and have been photographed hanging out at other events throughout the season. The two have quietly become good pals, and Larson took to social media to send a friendly congratulations to Stone on her win. On Twitter and Instagram, she sent out a pic of the two embracing after Stone accepted her award. The caption reads, "You know what's better than winning? Watching your friends win."

It was moving to see the two powerful actors supporting each other, and the moment was so noteworthy the Academy captured it, as well. On Instagram, the Academy posted a black and white video of the Larson pulling Stone aside:

The Academy's official Instagram captioned the picture, "Brie Larson congratulates best actress winner Emma Stone backstage at the #oscars". While Stone was clearly basking in the moment and enjoying some interviews, nothing compares to congrats from another actor you respect. The two are seen laughing together, and then Larson pulls Stone in for a long hug and what I can only assume are some shared words of profound acting wisdom. At the end of the emotional exchange, Stone could be seen wiping at her eyes. Us too, Emma.

Over the past few years, Stone and Larson have both become titans in the film industry. They have both tackled everything from challenging dramatic roles to enormous superhero franchises, and are likely to continue to dominate future awards seasons. If we're lucky, they may even end up starring side by side one day.
