Christian's '50 Shades' Fate Is Up In The Air

Universal Pictures

For fans of Fifty Shades of Grey who have not read the original book series, seeing the trailer for Fifty Shades Darker probably raised a few questions. For one thing, who is that girl stalking Ana and Christian and why the hell does she have a gun, OMG? Fifty Shades of Grey might have featured whips and chains, but Fifty Shades Darker has actual firepower, and this time the weapon isn't one used for pleasure. The shift from sexy romance to sexy thriller is a bit jarring, but how far does it go? Does Christian die in Fifty Shades Darker? Slight spoilers ahead.

Breathe easy, Christian-lovers, Christian Grey makes it out of Fifty Shades Darker alive (and he does so with a whole head of hair, despite whatever look actor Jamie Dornan might be rocking these days). But that doesn't necessarily mean he makes it out unharmed. It turns out that the woman with the gun shown briefly in the Fifty Shades Darker trailer isn't Christian's only threat in the new movie, based on the novel. In the book, Christian is more concerned with Jack Hyde, Ana's new boss, whose crush on Ana turns obsessive, and eventually somewhat murderous.

Still, no matter how many people around them try to threaten Ana and Christian with physical violence (seriously, this couple is intense), the central duo make it out of Fifty Shades Darker alive. However, fans still worried about Christian who want to be surprised at the movie theaters can take comfort in the fact that there will be a third film, Fifty Shades Freed. The film, which was shot simultaneously with Fifty Shades Darker, continues Christian and Ana's love story. And, what's a love story without a main couple? Besides, Ana might be the main character, but there's no Fifty Shades of Grey without Christian Grey himself.

So rest easy, Fifty Shades fans, Christian isn't going anywhere any time soon. Though, to be fair, he probably has a few more crazy exes in his past somewhere, so, I'd look out if I were him.
