The Best-Selling Luxury Beauty Product In The U.S Will Totally Surprise You

Think about the last deodorant that you bought. Odds are that you grabbed it on your way out of the drugstore, right? Well, it turns out that a whole lot of people turn to Sephora instead. As market research firm NPD found, Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist Deodorant is the best-selling luxury beauty product in the United States. The nearly five-star product on Sephora is taking over the beauty world — and for a good reason.

NPD Group, a consumer insights and research organization known for its comprehensive beauty market research since 1996, found that Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist Deodorant is not just your average antiperspirant. The luxury product is taking over the United States with its smell and benefits.

The most familiar deodorant is typically in a powder stick. You rub it on, let it dry, and pray that you don't get white marks when you put on your shirt. Well, not with this luxury item. Cashmere Mist Deodorant actually rolls on your skin, and has a massive cult following. One Sephora user claims to have been using the product for 10 years now, so the hype is nothing new.

It makes complete sense, if you think about it. Why splurge on the lipstick that you're going to wear once a week when you could invest in something that you'll likely wear every single day. Plus, it's got almost a full five-star review on Sephora, and, according to Allure, one Cashmere Mist Deodorant is sold every two minutes. That's some serious dedication, my friends.

On top of your average deodorant and antiperspirant benefits, the smell is what sets this product apart. According to the website, the Cashmere Mist Deodorant smells like the signature Donna Karan perfume by the same name. According to reviews on the site, it's not too strong and doesn't compete with any scent that you might be wearing.

Although the exact date of the deodorant creation is unknown — Bustle reached out to the brand to get the product's history — blogs like Into the Gloss have had glowing reviews since 2011. Others, like I said before, claim to have been using the product for 10 years now. This is not a product that is being hyped up for trendiness. It's a cult classic that truly does work for men and women.

"This stuff really works," one Sephora reviewer writes. Another says, "This is the only deodorant my boyfriend and I will wear. Not only does it keep us dry, but it also has the best scent." The reviews don't lie, people.

According to the description, this product was created directly because of customer requests.

"The Cashmere Mist Fragrance came about by popular demand," the description says on the Sephora website. "When Donna Karan introduced her signature scent in 1992, she wanted to create a bath and body collection that would complement her fragrance, not copy it exactly. The sheer scent is inspired by the feel of cashmere against bare skin. It’s truly unique."

While there are lotions and creams with the same name and scent, the deodorant, as NPD Group found, is overall the most popular. Despite the high-end price for a deodorant, people seem to think it's fully worth the price. You can snag the product for $27 on the Sephora website as well as Macy's, Ulta, Walmart, and, in sets, at Nordstrom.

If these glowing reviews plus national research don't make you want to try out the luxury product, then I don't know what will. There are plenty other deodorants out there, but apparently none quite like this.
