Swimsuit season is here, and Glamour has the perfect, body positive antidote: The publication pooled together a diverse group of women, and had them all wear the same bathing suit. It should come as a surprise to no one that the bathing suit looks amazing on all 10 different bodies, which range from size 4, to size 30 — because of course they do.
All in all, it's quite the empowering video — not only do all the people featured absolutely rock their polka-dotted bikinis, they also share some of their philosophies on body positivity, as well as insecurities that they've both overcome, and are in the process of overcoming. And they're all very honest — throughout the video they discuss everything there is to discuss about bathing suits, from the horror of shopping for them ("I usually don't go in the stall, because I just don't want to go through all the lights and all the mirrors," says one participant in the video) to the very real confidence that comes with appreciating your body ("I like my body because I get to decide if I like my body or not," Nicole says. "I'm not going to feel like it's less worthy or valuable because of what other people think.").
They discuss the vulnerability it takes to wear a bikini, and get real about the term "beach body" — "I think a beach body is whatever comes from underneath my cover-up when I get to the beach," says Ashley at one point in the video. Pretty much every topic is covered, and each woman has her own perspective.
In the end? "It's really empowering even to just be with 10 people today who are all different shapes, and who all get to put on a bathing suit and dance together. And look how beautiful and radiant they are," Alyssa says.
She really couldn't be more right.
Watch, and mark my words: You'll be inspired to go out and get a new bathing suit yourself. Heck, maybe it'll even be the adorable retro black-and-white polka-dotted one featured in the video!
