I Put BRITE's Pizza-Proof Liquid Lipstick To The Test
If you've been searching for the perfect, long-lasting lip product, consider your search over. As Teen Vogue found, BRITE's Liquid Lipsticks are pizza-proof. Yes, you read that right. They also are said to stand through chocolate, kisses, and burgers. Sounds too good to be true, right? I put the lipsticks to the test, so you don't have to. Here's how the boldest of the shades stood up to one of the greasiest foods out there.
There's nothing worse than being out and having to decide between perfect lipstick or pizza. (Let's be honest, #pizza every single time.) Thankfully, now you don't have to choose. According to the product description, BRITE's lips are so long-lasting that they can hold up through all your favorite foods. Oh, and it's also only $5. Pinch yourself, because you're not dreaming.
The liquid lipsticks come in nine different shades — Dope, Fine, Fresh, Hella, Like, Mad, Playa, Snaps, and Sup. They range from subtle pinks to bright red and even purple. On top of that, they're also vegan, cruelty-free, and three times larger than other lipsticks out there. I can see if these stunning shades promised to be long-lasting, but they're pretty much claiming to be bullet proof.
Naturally, I had to find out if these lipstick held up to the most beloved food on the planet — pizza. The cheesy, greasy goodness is pretty much the enemy of any liquid lipstick, so I was a tad bit skeptical. With all of the memories of smeared, faded lipstick in the back of my mind, I put on the brightest color, Playa, and made some homemade pizza.
According to the website, you're supposed to clean your lips with a makeup wipe before applying to make sure your lips are clean. I found that it's also helpful to exfoliate them, because this color will hold onto whatever it comes in contact with. It went on smooth, but did take a second to dry. The color is gorgeous, but what I really love is the extra-long, flexible applicator.
Now for the fun part. I put the lipstick on, waited about ten minutes, and then ate two pieces of pizza. I didn't look in the mirror as I ate, but I didn't see any red on the pizza. It's not uncommon for a lip color to come off on the food you're eating — especially when you're taking bites — so it was nice to know that I wasn't ingesting the product. Here's how it looked after I ate two slices and one bottle of water.
Looks pretty good to me! The only place that I thought I saw a little bit of fading was towards the inside of my lip. I would totally be comfortable eating out in public with the lipstick on. All in all, I'm going to say that BRITE Liquid Lipstick is pizza proof.
Because they are so stay-proof, they are a bit hard to get off. The colors didn't come off with a makeup wipe. Oddly enough, I had to use olive oil to get it off. As of July 29, all the shades are currently available on the BRITE website, and I highly recommend them. Because you should be able to have your lipstick shades and your pizza too.
